Prince Alexei

The pride and joy to the Tsar and Tsarina, Alexei was a persevering individual, trying everything in his power to be a normal boy. Although he was afflicted by the Kings' Curse of hemophilia, he was an energetic child while he was healthy. During his hemophilia attakcs, he would beg his mother for death, just to ease the pain. This of course broke the Tsarina's heart, seeing her baby in such agony. Her distress over Alexei's poor health made Alexandra turn to Rasputin for help.
Alexei's tutors had found him a bright student, but dreadfully inattentive. He found no interest in learning anything that didn't involve war or trains.
Alexei had a much better relationship with his father than Nicholas had had with his father, Alexander. They had the same love of the "Russian" styles and habits and took great joy in the outdoors and casual clothing.
The Tsarevich had two main caretakers after his parents: the sailors Andrei Derevenko and Clementy Nagorny. They stayed with the family until Nicholas's abdication. After the abdication, Derevenko left while Nagorny stayed and sacrificed his life for Alexei when Bolsheviks tried to steal from the boy.
